Meet Our Veterinarians

Saugus Animal Hospital’s five veterinarians have nearly  100 years of experience combined. Learn more about them here!

Dr. Robert Binder, DVM

Dr. Binder graduated from Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1979 after receiving his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1975. Dr. Binder has been the proud owner of Saugus Animal Hospital since 1987.  He and his wife Marcia have two grown daughters, one dog (a Golden Retriever), two cats and a tortoise. In his spare time, Dr. Binder likes to run, bicycle and read, but his real passion is downhill skiing.

Dr. Kel Bergsten, DVM

Dr. Bergsten has been a veterinarian at Saugus Animal Hospital since graduating from Purdue University School Of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. Her furry family consists of Spender, a boisterous Labrador Retriever, an irresistible French Bulldog named Mallory, and a mischievous cat named Alfred. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters as well as reading and knitting for her family and friends.

Dr. Karin Anderson, DVM

Dr. Anderson  joined the Saugus Animal Hospital team after graduating from the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1993.  In January 2007, Dr. Anderson  began her own house call practice with a special interest in senior pets.  She is available for appointments at the hospital on a  regular basis.  When appropriate, her patients will be admitted at Saugus Animal Hospital.  Please feel free to call the hospital if you would like to arrange for a house call visit or to  make an appointment to see her at the hospital.

Dr. Colleen McGinley, MVB

Dr. McGinley grew up in Boxford, MA with her dog, cat,  guinea pigs and American Quarter Horse named Bud.  After attending Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA,  she decided to spread her wings and received her veterinary training overseas  in Dublin, Ireland at University College Dublin, where she graduated in 2014. She joined our team in the fall of 2015. Like many pet lovers, she could not part with her two dogs while she was away, so they also took the long flight abroad!  She has a special interest in internal medicine, diagnostic imaging as well as exotic pets.

Dr. Sarah Wengert, DVM

Dr. Wengert grew up in Newton, MA. After finishing her undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College, she attended Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2015. After spending a year practicing primarily emergency medicine, she joined the Saugus Animal Hospital team in the fall of 2016. Currently, she lives in Carlisle with her husband, and an adorable Bichon Frise named Poppy. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, and doing almost anything outside.
