Meet Our Veterinarians
Dr. Robert Binder, DVM
Dr. Binder graduated from Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1979 after receiving his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1975. Dr. Binder has been the proud owner of Saugus Animal Hospital since 1987. He and his wife Marcia have two grown daughters, one dog (a Golden Retriever), two cats and a tortoise. In his spare time, Dr. Binder likes to run, bicycle and read, but his real passion is downhill skiing.
Dr. Kel Bergsten, DVM
Dr. Bergsten has been a veterinarian at Saugus Animal Hospital since graduating from Purdue University School Of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. Her furry family consists of Soender, a boisterous Labrador Retriever, an irresistible French Bulldog named Mallory, and a mischievous cat named Alfred. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters as well as reading and knitting for her family and friends.
Dr. Karin Anderson, DVM
Dr. Anderson joined the Saugus Animal Hospital team after graduating from the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. In January 2007, Dr. Anderson began her own house call practice with a special interest in senior pets. She is available for appointments at the hospital on a regular basis. When appropriate, her patients will be admitted at Saugus Animal Hospital. Please feel free to call the hospital if you would like to arrange for a house call visit or to make an appointment to see her at the hospital.
Dr. Sarah Wengert, DVM
Dr. Wengert grew up in Newton, MA. After finishing her undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College, she attended Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2015. After spending a year practicing primarily emergency medicine, she joined the Saugus Animal Hospital team in the fall of 2016. Currently, she lives in Carlisle with her husband, and an adorable Bichon Frise named Poppy. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, and doing almost anything outside.
Dr. Jessica Flynn
Dr. Flynn began her career in the field of veterinary medicine 15yrs ago as a Technician Assistant at Saugus Animal Hospital. She continued to work with us through her undergraduate studies at Salem State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biology. Dr. Flynn continued her studies at Ross university School of Veterinary Medicine earning her DVM in 2014. After working in private practices in Maine and Massachusetts she has come full circle back “home” with us again. From Dr. Flynn’s first day, she has recognized clients’ names and friendly faces from when she left 9 yrs. ago to pursue her dream. Working alongside the same management and many of the same Doctors, technicians and receptionists is why this practice is about more than just veterinary medicine to Dr. Flynn. It’s also about lifelong friendships and family relationships committed to the same goal. Dr. Flynn’s is passionate about preventive medicine. Her goal is to keep all her patients as healthy as possible. When she is not working, Dr. Flynn enjoys life through her delights in all genre of music, a passion for all things Disney, being near the water, traveling and concerts.
