Vaccinations

There is no one-size-fits-all protocol for pet vaccines. A dog or a cat can require different vaccinations based upon where in the United States the pet lives, the amount of travel, whether or not the pet (usually dog-specific) goes to parks, kennels or groomers or even if a cat goes outdoors or lives with another cat that does. We want to ensure the utmost protection of your pet, without over-vaccinating your furry friend.  In order to ensure optimal care, we follow the vaccination guidelines of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association. Additionally, we work with you to understand what your pet needs to maintain his or her health, including lifestyle and risk factors.  Examples of recommended vaccinations for the different ages and stages of your pet include:

Kitten

    • FRCP Vaccine protects against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia (distemper).

    • Feline Leukemia Vaccine is recommended for all kittens as a form of protection in case they accidentally sneak outside or it’s later decided they will be indoor/outdoor cats.

    • Rabies vaccination is required by law, as it is a fatal virus that is contagious to all mammals including humans.

Adult Cat

    • FRCP Vaccine protects against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivrus and panleukopenia (distemper).

    • Feline Leukemia Vaccine if your cat goes outside or is exposed to another feline that does, this vaccination is recommended every 2 years.

Puppy

    • DA2PP Vaccine protects against canine distemper, adenovirus 2, parvovirus and parainfluenza.
