Amanda joined our team as a receptionist in 2009, effectively replacing her sister Kristen at the front desk, when she transitioned to become a veterinary technician at the hospital. Since that time, Amanda and her infectious smile have become an integral part of welcoming clients and patients to the hospital on a daily basis. Amanda has been the lead receptionist since early 2014, and is currently working part time, since she became a Mom. Amanda and her husband Kent became proud parents to their son, Nicholas, in March of 2018.
Meet Our Staff
Mary Jo joined our team in March of 2015. Prior to joining SAH, Mary Jo was a letter carrier for the USPS for 22 years. With her enthusiastic and upbeat personality she’s a delightful addition to our front desk. A self-described homebody, Mary Jo enjoys reading, listening to music, watching movies and spending time with Riley, her long haired Dachshund.
Cristin joined Saugus Animal Hospital in December of 2015. Her welcoming personality and smile has been a great addition to the front desk. She has been a pet lover her whole life, and is currently a dog-mom to a 5 year old lab mix named Harley. Cristin is a huge Pats fan! She loves spending time with her long term boyfriend George. She is also the coolest of coolest aunts or ‘Titi’ to her two nieces and nephew. Her hobbies include making people belly laugh, quoting her favorite movies and kick boxing.
Amy has been with us since May, 2017. Prior to joining the Saugus Animal Hospital team, she worked for her college newspaper, and in retail. Amy graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in English, but her true passion lies in working with small animals, especially rats! She has kept numerous rats, gerbils, mice, and even degus!
Tashima joined Saugus Animal Hospital in 2018 as a receptionist. Her sense of humor keeps our team in ‘stitches’. Her passion is people. Her hobbies include painting, drawing and playing with her best friend’s 7-year old cat, “Nutty.” She enjoys creating moments with clients and patients, in which they feel heard, understood and comfortable. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and their pets.
Patty joined the SAH team over 40 years ago, after obtaining an Associates Degree in Animal Science. She has been a Certified Veterinary Technician for over 30 years, and has an increased role of responsibility as the Hospital’s Practice Manager. Patty enjoys working with our feline patients, particularly “Nana and Grampy kitties” (the geriatrics). Her home is shared with two kitties, Bizzy and Dash. When not working, Patty enjoys a large extended family, attending live theater, gardening, photography, travel, and Boston sports.
Amy has been a member of our staff since 2005. Although a dog person at heart, Amy has also raised a variety of reptiles over the years and is knowledgeable in the care and handling of snakes and lizards. Amy has received extensive on-the-job training and passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam in 2006, completing all the requirements for her CVT certification in 2013. In addition to her full time position here, she owns and operates the Tiger Institute Tae Kwon Do studio in Saugus, where she began training in 1987, and holds a 4th degree black belt. Amy is frequently accompanied at work by Jenny, a scruffy terrier mix, whom she rescued in a parking lot in Puerto Rico. She also has two “differently-abled” cats, Henrietta and Iris, who were both adopted as injured strays.
Traci has been a technician since 1994, and has been with Saugus Animal Hospital since 1997. She has her B.S. in Biology, and moved to MA to attend graduate school, where she earned her M.S. in Neurobiology and Animal Physiology. She became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2003. Cats are her first love, and she strives to make a difference for them with everything she does, both with her work at Saugus Animal Hospital and with her other endeavors. When she is not working here at the hospital, she is busy cat sitting, running her Pampered Chef business and hanging with her husband and four cats.
After working in the education and social services fields for more than six years, Sarah joined the SAH team in February of 2016, as part of her externship for Animal Behavior College. She graduated the program in April of 2016, and passed the Approved Veterinary Assistant (AVA) exam the following winter. Sarah shares her home with her husband, Matt, and two adopted cats, Saucer and Munchkin. In her spare time, Sarah volunteers for Melrose Humane Society, and she competes in two candlepin bowling leagues. She also enjoys hiking, fantasy football, and watching the Patriots and Bruins!

As of June 2016 Kristen is working from home, in order to be with Nathan. She will be continuing her role as our online pharmacy and content manager remotely. Though we will miss her greatly on a daily basis, she will still be coming in to help out the veterinary staff from time to time.
Emilie joined SAH in September 2017. Her love of animals has been present since her childhood. Emilie grew up with her lovable Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Pucci for 12 years. All of her life, Pucci had various serious health issues and Emilie made it her mission to care for her precious dog. It was when her beloved dog passed that she knew she wanted to dedicate her career to caring for all man’s best friends.
Emilie grew up in Québec, Canada, and moved to Massachusetts after graduating in May, 2017 with a Veterinary Technician degree.
